We Love our Therapy Cats!
In the fall of 2019 we lost our beloved furry babies Pox (Rescue Cat age 16) and Jack (Labrador age 15)—Just before the world stopped in its tracks. On lock down, lonely, 100% remote, and missing friends and family, we looked to adopt ONE kitten as a way to offer emotional comfort to our three children who were struggling to adapt to the lockdown. But instead of one kitten we ended up with a pair of Ragdoll mixed breed kittens, a snuggly British Shorthair, and two purebred Ragdolls! Needless to say, we fell in love and the benefits we have received from our somewhat spontaneous adoption spree is priceless. Our five cats have provided hours of emotional support to the entire family and extended family, friends and neighbors. I quickly recognized the therapeutic value of having access to or owning an emotional support pet. And thus, Rain City Rags was born! We are new to the world of purebred kitties but excited to provide quality therapy cats from our home to yours.
Not your Average Cat Breeder
While bloodlines, TICA and CFA registration, and show quality matter for maintaining healthy bloodlines, our primary focus is on temperament, personality, and suitability as a therapy cat. We look for purebred male and female Ragdolls that demonstrate therapy animal potential. We believe in responsible breeding and all of our emotional support and therapy cats go to their new homes as indoor only, spayed/neutered pets.
It Takes a Village to Raise a Therapy Cat
Everyone from the kids to the grandparents play a role in raising our kittens. Our cats are part of the family and are treated with the utmost care and love. The kittens we raise are handled daily and given lots of cuddles from people of all ages. They are raised in a multiple cat household and are gradually introduced to other external stimuli to ensure they are at their best when moving to a new home as an emotional support pal.

Our Mission
- To offer purebred ragdoll kittens for adoption to individuals and families looking for a furry companion capable of providing in-home emotional and therapeutic support.
- To provide online access to education opportunities for therapy pets and owners, and resources for individuals and families living with trauma and/or disabilities.
- To volunteer with local animal therapy chapters to increase access to cats as emotional and therapeutic support animals.

Thing 1 is the best niece and pet sitter ever! Willing to do the hard work to make sure all our furry babies are cared for while we are away. She visits often and is another handler helping to make fantastic Ragdoll cats. She also happens to be an excellent photographer in training and contributes images to our web and social media feed! Thing 2 is the most patient kid on our team. He loves his claimed kitty Luna who routinely sleeps under the covers with him. Thing 2 brings a calm presence and gentle caring to rearing our therapy cats.

Thing 3 is our cat whisperer! We are all blown away by his ability to hold and cuddle even the most timid of cats. Thing 3 is our primary tester for human contact.

Thing 4 is another dedicated Ragdoll fanatic. She steps up to help with the nitty gritty (and sometimes messy and gross) parts of raising cats. She helps provide the consistent, safe, clean, and loving environment required to raise healthy, therapy cats.
Kittens in Need
There are always pets in need of adoption from local shelters and we encourage individuals to evaluate what they are looking for in pet ownership before splurging on the adoption of a purebred kitten. There are many loving pets of mixed pedigree waiting to be adopted that can be wonderful companions.
